Vivint 2025

Year-in-Review 2025: The first yearly review in the Smart Home space

Vivint had never celebrated its customers' year with them. We saw an opportunity to bring a customer's data to life in a way that felt personal, fun, and shareable. We wanted them to see how hard their system was working for them in a feature that was the first of its kind in the smart home industry.

Tearing up the script

Users were taken through an engaging series of animations that reflected the data from their home for the year. Thousands of detections, hours armed, and packages were compiled for each individual customer.

Bold Colors & Motion Graphics

I partnered with my team member James Scott to create these illustrations and motion graphics. We wanted something that felt like a departure from our usual brand. We created something bolder, punchier, and more fun.

Built to share

We gave every stat its own shareable card, so customers could show off their year to friends, family, and anyone on their social feed.

What I learned

This project was both incredibly fun and challenging. It was an idea our team pitched well into the Fall, so we had a matter of weeks to pull it together to have enough time for development before releasing it in December. This created a lot of constraints for us to work within, so we relied heavily on background animations to bring the data to life rather than fully custom built-out components like most yearly review experiences.

What I would do differently

If I were to do this project over again I'd love to bring in some moments from customer's cameras as well as create more custom components to show their data more dynamically. I'd also lean into a visual through line that tells more of a story rather than relying so heavily on a color palette to tie the experience together.
